6. Character: It is powder and granular  white or colorless, microcrystalline powder. It is stable in air, and it is practically insoluble in water and in alcohol. The presence of any ammonium salt or carbon dioxide increases its solubility in water, but the presence of any alkali hydroxide reduces the solubility.

1. Food industry
Food additives: used as nutritional fortifiers, acidity regulators, and anti caking agents in foods such as bread, biscuits, and milk powder.

Calcium supplements: used in food to increase calcium content and enhance nutritional value.

2. Pharmaceutical industry
Calcium supplements: used for preparing calcium tablets and other calcium supplements to prevent and treat calcium deficiency.
